Willamette and Multnomah Channel
The Willamette River and Multnomah Channel are two of the best Spring Chinook fisheries in the state. From Late March through June, Spring Chinook are available right in the Portland area. Besides being hard fighters, Spring Chinook are widely considered the best eating fish in Oregon, often costing over $40 per pound in the market.
Columbia River
Wilson River
The Wilson River is historically one of the Tillamook Area’s best rivers for Chinook and Steelhead. It’s proximity to Portland makes the Wilson a favorite for many fishermen. It’s robust runs of Fall Chinook and Hatchery Winter Steelhead give anglers an opportunity to fill their freezers not too far from home.
Nehalem River
The Nehalem River is the largest and hardest river to figure out of the Tillamook area rivers. It’s size and volume of water makes is a daunting river to most, but those anglers willing to spend the time to learn the Nehalem often find themselves in the most picturesque scenes nature has to offer.
Nestucca River
The Nestucca River lies just south of Tillamook and flies a little under the radar due to being overshadowed by such amazing fishing to the North, but don’t underestimate the little river. The Nestucca has its days where the fish flood the system and salmon and steelhead are as plentiful as they are anywhere on the coast.
